Short or long-term business assignments to national and international destinations is still very much part of the professional landscape despite the advance in computer technology. This prediction is supported by the Global Business Travel Association’s (GBTA) Business Travel Outlook, that the UK market will continue growing into 2016 (although at a slower rate, going from 7.4 per cent this year to a growth of 6.2 per cent next year) with business travel spend in the UK expected to have grown 7 per cent in 2015.
With travel comes the need for accommodation. The traditional choice has. in the majority of cases been to book into a Hotel. But, this can become tedious when having to stay in a small room for a few nights or more, not to mention the additional cost of having to eat out, pay for laundering services, parking and often Wi-Fi and extra TV channels too.
There is, however an alternative well worth considering – a serviced apartment stay – the ultimate in business travel accommodation. So what is so appealing about this type of accommodation? For the company, huge cost savings, inclusive rates and added flexibility – shorten or extend bookings even at last minute.
For the traveller, the self-contained accommodation offers much more space, a fully equipped kitchen, washing and ironing facilities, a SKY entertainment package, high-speed Wi-Fi, a weekly maid service with linen plus towels and parking – a place to stay that is so much more homely. The open-plan living-dining area gives guests the option to eat in, to have friends or colleagues over or to create an office environment with space and privacy to work. Simple additions that can make travel away from home so much more appealing.
With these attractive features, the serviced apartment industry is forecast to expand faster over the next two years than any other sector in the UK hospitality industry. This is due to the increase in demand owing to growing public awareness and an increase in UK corporate travel policies including serviced apartments.
According to a report by the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers (ASAP) and Savills, the serviced apartment sector is expected to grow by 8.4% annually from a current market-share of 3.1% of the hospitality sector by the end of 2017 with significant growth not just expected in the major cities such as London and Birmingham, but also in secondary cities including Milton Keynes and Reading where there is high economic attractiveness.
At Cotels Serviced Apartments, we have been offering apartments in Milton Keynes, Northampton and Luton for over 18 years and have continually added apartments to our portfolio while also striving to highlight the advantages of a serviced apartment stay versus a Hotel – and the three distinctive features that make this type of leisure or business travel accommodation more like home, are: a kitchen, bedrooms separate from the spacious living area for more privacy, and laundry facilities enabling you to be independent without additional costs involved.
Our quality accredited apartments and high standards of service offer guests a home-away-from-home stay, with all the amenities of a Hotel and with the flexibility of apartment living.
