To Book Your Accommodation in Milton Keynes

The weather in the county of Buckinghamsire is consistent with what one can expect in the UK although it is generally milder and the country-side is magnificient making it ideal to come for a golfing break. There are many golf courses around Milton Keynes, which an enthusiastic golfer traveling to the area might be interested in. Locations include the well known Woburn Golf club, Stock Park and Buckinghamshire Golf Club.

One of the most popular golf courses in Milton Keynes is the Woburn Golf Club, which is known to be one of the best in England. It hosts three championship courses, which are the Duke’s, Duchess and Marquess courses. The first course at Woburn was named after the Duke of Bedford, owner of the house and estate. It grew in stature and the first professional event was the Dunlop Masters in 1979. Pine, birch and chestnut trees flank the fairways, and each hole is played in splendid isolation. The course measures almost 7,000 yards from the back tees and requires the golfer to play straight, long drives. The feature hole is the 125-yard third, framed by rhododendrons and gorse.

The Duchess’ Course is slightly shorter in length than the Duke’s, but the beautiful pine wood surroundings really make it one of the most picturesque. Tight narrow fairways through pine trees put a premium on straight hitting. Although it has not had as much exposure, it sits comfortably with the other two courses. The 203-yard seventh hole is guarded by a huge bunker while a historic ridge, the remains of an ancient Danish settlement, runs diagonally across the hole and will push anything short and left into the forest.

The Marquess course, is set within 200 acres of mature woodland in the 3,000-acre estate. The fairways are wider, the land more undulating and the trees are more park-like. Measuring well over 7,000 yards, the seventh hole is outstanding, requiring a perfect drive to the left and then a long iron.
