Milton Keynes often abbreviated MK, is a large town in the county of Buckinghamshire, in the south east of England. It is located about 49 miles (79 km) north-west of London and on a direct rain link from Euston Station. It was formally designated as a new town on 23 January 1967, with the design brief to become a ‘city’ in scale.
Milton Keynes covers an area of 89 km2 (34 sq miles) and has a current population estimated to be over 230,000. Senior football was a relatively late arrival in Milton Keynes. There had been several non-league teams based in the area over the years. In May 2002 Wimbledon FC was given permission to relocate to Milton Keynes and became known as the Milton Keynes Dons. They now play in a new 22,000-seat stadium:mk, south Milton Keynes.
