Self-catering apartment holiday tips
When planning your next holiday or weekend break, consider staying in a self-catering or serviced apartment no matter where the destination you choose. For many holiday planners, a package holiday may seem the cheapest deal available, but there are often lots of hidden costs you need to factor in plus there is usually little flexibility in choice of airline carrier or hotel accommodation.
Many package deals, which initially seem the cheapest holiday option don’t include many things like meals, transportation to and from the airport, and hidden fees. These fees could actually make your stay more expensive. If you are traveling alone for example, you may have to pay extra for a single person.
When choosing a holiday apartment, be realistic about your expectations. Do some researching in the area you are planning to take your holiday, and find out what apartments are available and what they include in the price. If you are planning to travel in a group, you will need to look for an apartment with enough beds for all of you. Most self-catering or serviced apartments are either one, two or three bed-roomed and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people.
Another good piece of advice is to make a checklist of what things you are looking for in an apartment. Do you want a fully serviced apartment, where a maid comes in every day and cleans up, or can you do some things on your own? How close is it to the supermarket, convenience stores or markets so you don’t have to go far to buy food. What kind of amenities are you looking for? Do you require a laundry service, or need to be close to tour starting points?
There are many considerations to think about beforehand. However, in the long run, it is a good idea to book into a self-catering or serviced apartment over a hotel. You are more likely to have some kind of privacy, you don’t have to worry about most of your budget going on food, and of course, many of the comforts of home. It also allows you to explore the city or country at your leisure, doing what you want, when you want.
When you are booking your holiday apartments, it may also be a good time to book and pay for any tours, theatre tickets or other attractions you may be interested in seeing.
A self-catering vacation or weekend break really can help you to make the most of your time away. They save you money too. If you haven’t yet considered a self-catering holiday then now would definitely be the time to do so!
